1. INTRODUCTION

Viktor Mykhailiv (trading as "Tabletop AI Assistant") ("we," "us," or "our") respects the privacy of our users ("user" or "you"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our mobile application (the "App").

We are the Data Controller of your personal data under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR).

By using the App, you consent to the data practices described in this policy. If you do not agree with the terms of this Privacy Policy, please do not access the App.

2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

We collect information that you voluntarily provide to us or that is automatically collected when you use the App.

A. Personal Data You Provide

  • User Inputs (AI Queries): We share the text you type and the images you upload (e.g., photos of rulebooks) with third-party AI services for processing. These are essential for the AI to function.
  • Customer Support: Data you provide when contacting us for support (e.g., screenshots, error descriptions).

B. Data Automatically Collected

  • Device Information: We automatically collect device details such as your mobile device ID (IDFA or AAID), model, manufacturer, operating system version, and IP address.
  • Usage Data: Information about how you use the App, including buttons clicked, features used, and timestamps.
  • Advertising Data: Data regarding your interaction with advertisements viewed in the App.

C. Payment Data

We do not store your financial information (such as credit card numbers). All subscriptions and in-app purchases are processed securely by Apple (App Store). We only receive a cryptographic token confirming that a purchase was valid and the history of your transactions.

3. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide the Service: To convert your text/image inputs into board game rule explanations using Artificial Intelligence.
  • Improve the AI: To analyze common questions and improve the accuracy of our answers.
  • Serve Advertising: To display third-party advertisements and provide "Rewarded" free questions in exchange for viewing ads.
  • Manage Accounts: To manage your subscription status, validate receipts, and restore purchases.
  • Legal Compliance: To comply with applicable laws and regulations.

4. DATA STORAGE & iCloud SYNC

Tabletop AI Assistant uses Apple’s iCloud/CloudKit to securely store and sync your data across devices that use the same Apple ID.

You control your iCloud data through your Apple ID settings.

We do not have direct access to your iCloud data.

5. ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE & DATA PROCESSING

This is the most important part of how Tabletop AI Assistant works.

To provide you with rule explanations, the text and images you upload are transmitted to third-party Artificial Intelligence providers (Gemini) for processing.

  • Data Transmission: Your inputs are sent securely (encrypted) to these providers solely to generate a response.
  • No Personal Identifiers: We do not send your name, email, or IP address to the AI provider alongside your query unless it is contained within the text/image you explicitly uploaded.
  • Training: We generally rely on API agreements that prevent third-party providers from using your specific data to train their general public models. However, you acknowledge that no AI transmission is 100% private, and you should never upload sensitive personal documents (e.g., financial papers, IDs) to the App.

6. ADVERTISING AND TRACKING

We work with third-party advertising partners to serve advertisements in the App. This helps us keep the base features of the App free.

A. Google AdMob

We use Google AdMob to display ads. Google may use your device's advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS), your IP address, and other device data to select and display ads that are relevant to you ("Personalized Ads").

B. Your Choices (Opt-Out)

  • iOS Tracking Permission: On iOS 14.5+, you will be asked for permission to "Track" your activity across other apps. You can decline this permission. If you do, you will still see ads, but they will be less relevant to you (generic ads).
  • App Settings: You may update your privacy preferences at any time via the "Privacy Choices" menu within the App settings.

7. APP PERMISSIONS

To function, the App may request access to:

  • Camera: To take photos of board game rulebooks or components.
  • Photo Library: To upload existing photos of rules. You can revoke these permissions at any time in your device settings, but doing so will disable the visual scanning features of the App.
  • Tracking (ATT): To allow our ad partners to show you personalized advertisements.

8. DISCLOSURE OF YOUR INFORMATION

We may share information we have collected about you in certain situations:

  • Service Providers: With third-party vendors who perform services for us (e.g., cloud hosting, AI processing, analytics).
  • Advertising Networks: We share device identifiers and interaction data with Google AdMob to facilitate ad delivery.
  • Subscription Infrastructure: We share purchase receipts and anonymous user identifiers with RevenueCat to validate your subscription status and manage purchase history. RevenueCat does not have access to your raw financial data (credit card numbers).
  • Business Transfers: If Tabletop AI Assistant is sold or merged, your information may be transferred to the new owner.
  • Legal Requirements: If required by law, court order, or governmental authority.

9. DATA RETENTION

We retain your personal information only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy.

  • User Inputs: Text and image inputs are typically processed in real-time and not permanently stored by us, though they may be logged temporarily for debugging and abuse prevention (typically up to 30 days).
  • Account Info: Retained as long as your account is active.

10. YOUR RIGHTS (UK & GDPR)

If you are located in the UK or the European Economic Area (EEA), you have specific rights regarding your data:

  • Right to Access: You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to Erasure ("Right to be Forgotten"): You can ask us to delete your personal data (e.g., delete your account).
  • Right to Rectification: You can ask us to correct inaccurate data.
  • Right to Restrict Processing: You can ask us to limit how we use your data.

11. CALIFORNIA PRIVACY RIGHTS (CCPA)

If you are a resident of California, you have the right to:

  • Request disclosure of the categories and specific pieces of personal data we have collected.
  • Request deletion of your personal data.
  • Opt-out of Sale: We do not sell your personal information for money. However, allowing advertising partners to collect identifiers may be considered a "sale" or "sharing" under California law. You can opt-out by using the "Privacy Choices" link in the App settings.

12. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

The App is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected such information, we will delete it immediately.

13. INTERNATIONAL DATA TRANSFERS

Your information may be transferred to and maintained on computers located outside of your state, province, country, or other governmental jurisdiction where the data protection laws may differ from those from your jurisdiction.

If you are located in the UK/EU, please note that we transfer data, including personal data, to the United States (where many AI providers and Google servers are hosted) and process it there. We rely on Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) or the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to ensure your data remains protected.
